Virgil Lesaca is Filipino-American, the middle child of five siblings and the only boy, born and raised in Los Angeles proper, representing Lincoln Heights. He attended Fairfax High where he developed a love for his hometown, history, and writing. He was published for the first time while studying creative writing and Film at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He later would write and direct his first short film, train as an actor, and record music. After he and his wife had their first child, they lived in the south where he began writing his first novel. He is now based in Los Angeles and focused exclusively on writing.
