Set during the return of the Hale-Bopp comet, the Serrulata Saga is a dystopian sci-fi/fantasy adventure you won’t want to miss

Are you self-published or published?

Hello, I’m Bennett! I’m a self-published indie author. My series, the Serrulata Saga, is dystopian sci-fi/fantasy, but I also have a prequel romance novella coming out on December 1!

If you are not a full-time writer, do you/have you had a day job?

I do have a day job, but I don’t really talk about it.

What effect has your life had on what you write?

Well, geographically, the Serrulata Saga takes place in the mid-Atlantic region of the United States, which is where I’ve lived the most.

I guess the other aspect of my life that currently affects my writing is time. Some weeks, finding time to actually sit down and write can be challenging.

Does writing energise you or wipe you out?

Writing energizes me. Editing wipes me out – ha!

What’s the most challenging aspect of writing?

For me, making sure details I established in the first book in my series align with what I’ve currently written in Book Two. Consistency is challenging!

What’s your writing process? Are you an early bird or a night owl?

I’m a night owl. Writing relaxes me, so I tend to want to focus on it later in the day.

Are you a punster or a planner?

Mostly a planner, but sometimes ideas hit me while I’m writing and my brain says to my fingers, “We’re doing this now!”

What does success look like to you?

I would love, love, love to have fans. Even if it’s a small group of folks. It would be great to see others as invested in my characters and story as I am.

How do you market your books?

This has been the most challenging part for me. I’m on Twitter and Instagram, but I don’t have very large followings. I’ve been reaching out to accounts like yours, and I offer my book on a few websites aimed at readers. One of my goals for 2022 is to learn more about marketing and get better at it.

Tell us about your latest book/work

I’m in the process of completing initial edits on Book Two of the Serrulata Saga. Once those are complete and the work is off with my betas, I’m going to start outlining my second romance novel in the series. If folks are interested in monthly updates, they can sign up for my newsletter
